Frightening Amount of Fun This Half Term
This October Half Term there’s plenty to be scared about with a whole heap of chillingly fang-tastic spooky events across Devon.
But don’t be afraid as there are also some great ways to celebrate the beauty of autumn with apple and honey harvesting, walks, trails, pumpkin hunting and carving that is perfect for those who don’t want anything too menacing on their holiday.
Donkey Sanctuary Pumpkin Trick or Treat Trail
1st October - 2nd November 2026 | 9am - 5pm
Just a short journey from the hotel, The Donkey Sanctuary is always a family favourite. This October, follow their Pumpkin Trick or Treat Trail around the Sidmouth sanctuary and discover what counts as a trick or a treat for their resident donkeys.
Alongside the seasonal trail, there are plenty of donkeys to meet, beautiful countryside walks and family-friendly areas to explore, making it an easy addition to an autumn day in Sidmouth.
Spook-Fest at Crealy
For a day packed with Halloween fun, head to Crealy Theme Park & Resort for Spook-Fest, taking place during October half term.
Alongside more than 60 rides and attractions, families can brave Halloween scare mazes, enjoy spooky shows and entertainment and meet Sooty and Sweep. Younger visitors can enjoy Buddy’s Spook Maze and Trick or Treat experience, while those looking for a few more thrills can take on some of Crealy’s scarier Halloween challenges.
Best of all, every child visiting during Spook-Fest receives a free pumpkin to take home.
Autumn Day at Pecorama
Take a trip along the coast to the picturesque village of Beer, where Pecorama will be opening for selected days during October half term.
Hop aboard the Beer Heights Light Railway, wander through the beautifully landscaped gardens and enjoy spectacular views across the East Devon coastline. Families can also explore the PECO Model Railway Exhibition and outdoor play areas.
Pecorama will be open on selected dates between 20th and 29th October 2026, making it a lovely option for a relaxed autumn day out.
Trick or Treat Tram at Seaton Tramway
All aboard for some Halloween fun! Seaton Tramway’s Trick or Treat Tram returns from 29th October, taking families on a wonderfully spooky journey filled with pumpkins, ghouls and surprises.
Expect a 25-minute themed tram ride, storytelling, plenty of fun along the way and a meet-and-greet with the not-so-wicked witch Grizelda at Colyton. Children will also receive a goody bag to take home.
It’s designed to be spooky rather than scary, making it a great Halloween adventure for younger families.
